Team Notts’ Sees Big Interest at Meetings Show 2023

Last week a delegation of businesses, led by Meet in Nottingham, attended the Meetings show 2023 at the ExCel Centre in London, showcasing the very best of Nottinghamshire’s Business Visitor Economy to event buyers from all over the world.

The delegation, which comprised of the National Ice Centre and Motorpoint Arena Nottingham; Goosedale; Mercure Nottingham Sherwood Hotel; Nottingham Venues and the Island Quarter, generated over 150 enquiries about bringing events to the city.

The range of dynamic venues and hotel options on the stand showcased Nottinghamshire’s ability to host a variety of events and meetings. Coupled with Meet in Nottinghamshire’s expertise highlighting the city’s strong life sciences sector, links to research and innovation at 2 world class universities, and Notts’ renowned clean green award-winning public transport, the stand generated lots of interest amongst buyers.

Rachel Stewart, Events Manager for Meet in Nottingham, commented:

“Attending the Meetings Show 2023 has once again been a great success for Nottinghamshire. We had so many positive discussions with different buyers who are excited about potentially bringing their events to Nottinghamshire.

“The interest in our region has been very strong and we’re already following up on conversations we’ve had, talking about next steps and familiarisation visits for those who want to see Notts for themselves. Of course, Meet in Nottingham along with our amazing partners will be there to support these buyers every step of the way”

Sales Manager at the National Ice Centre and Motorpoint Arena Nottingham Amy Derrick added:

“Motorpoint Arena & National Ice Centre has attended the meeting show for a few years now, in collaboration with Visit Nottinghamshire. Every year it gets better & better, the connections are beneficial and valuable, not to mention working together as a group that is bringing more enquiries to the city & our exposure is greater as a team.

“It’s important to advise everyone that we are ‘more than just an Arena’, the meeting show definitely does this and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work together to achieve this and make an impact as a city.”

Melissa Sobo, Director of Sales at Nottingham Venues commented:

“The Meetings Show 2023 was an excellent opportunity to promote our properties as Nottingham Venues which is a collection of meeting, events and hotels space located within the University of Nottingham grounds and includes the East Midlands Conference Centre, Orchard Hotel and Jubilee Hotel & Conferences.  This was a chance to showcase our fantastic venues and bring future business tourism to Nottingham.

“The Meetings Show 2023 is key for the meeting and events industry and we’re delighted to represent Nottinghamshire along with our show partners as this enabled us to meet industry contacts as well as build new key relationships.”

Sales Manager for the Mercure Nottingham Sherwood Hotel, Ben Eames:

“It was great to be part of the Visit Nottinghamshire stand and showcasing to clients from all over the UK what the venues within Nottingham have to offer.  Nottingham is a fantastic city and it’s important we shout about this. We have picked up some fantastic connections from the two days at the meeting show, and we look forward to working with these over the coming months”.

Liam Morgan, Sales & Marketing Manager at the Island Quarter said:

“Attending The Meeting Show for the first time this year was a great success. As we have been working closely with Visit Nottinghamshire on the launch of Phase 1 of The Island Quarter, attending this show together was the perfect way to introduce our new venues and event spaces to the corporate and events market.

“The interest around our development provided an excellent opportunity to meet event agencies and bookers throughout the two days, and we cannot wait to build relationships with the people we met throughout the show.”
